ILLUSTRATING THE WORLD

The proliferation of printing presses in the 15th century was accompanied by a surge in demand for woodcut illustrations. German artist Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) was the master of this form.

In 1511, he published a large-format biblical picture-book – every illustration from which is on display at the Holburne Museum in Bath, alongside other period publications. Holburne Museum, Bath (holburne.org), until April 23
