‘Do chores to win a man’ advert for dating app banned

By Will Bolton

A MATCH.COM advert featuring a woman doing chores to please a man who does nothing in return has been banned for “perpetuating negative gender stereotypes”.

The short video was posted on Tiktok on June 30, and showed clips of a couple in their home.

One scene shows the man sitting in a chair with his feet up and on the phone while a female voiceover said: “Things that make him realise I’m a keeper. I will make him his protein shake after the gym.”

The voiceover then adds: “I always make sure he has a fresh towel and socks after his shower” and “I put the football on for him every evening”.

The advert ended with the woman saying: “Find your keeper via Match. Go download the Match app today.”

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that the advert must not appear again. Match.com said its advert was conceived as a three-video storyline that would have shown the man carrying out tasks for the woman.
