Homeless man killed widow who housed him

An elderly “good Samaritan” was murdered by a homeless man she gave a room in her home.

Patricia Holland, 83, was killed at her house in Gorleston, Norfolk, by Allan Scott, 42, who tried to dispose of her body on a bonfire in her garden.

David Spens KC, prosecuting, said Mrs Holland, a widow, was a “charitable woman concerned with people who were down on their luck”.

Scott denied murder but was found guilty by a jury at Norwich Crown Court yesterday.

He had admitted preventing a lawful burial and will be sentenced for both crimes at a later date.
