Trump uses racial slur in attack on McConnell

Donald Trump, the former US president, insulted a former colleague in an attack on Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in Congress.

Elaine Chao, who resigned from Mr Trump’s cabinet immediately after the Jan 6 Capitol riot, is also Mr McConnell’s wife. In a tweet yesterday, he referred to her as his “China loving wife, Coco Chow.”

Mr Trump’s latest salvo in his ongoing feud with Mr McConnell came hours after Congress passed a stopgap funding bill to avert a federal government shutdown.
