Einstein equations go under the hammer

A sheet of paper which is covered in Albert Einstein’s calculations is tipped to sell for £50,000.

The mathematician wrote down a series of scientific equations in ink and pencil on the plain paper, crossing out small sections of the draft manuscript.

Einstein also made annotations explaining what he intended to achieve with his formulae. He wrote the letter in October 1933, months after renouncing his German citizenship and fleeing Nazi Germany. The exiled scientist signed off: “Albert Einstein: From the graveyard of buried hopes.”

The documents are being sold by auction in Malaga, Spain.
