Theroux: I could never write as well as my father

Louis Theroux has revealed he vowed never to become an author because he fears he would fall short of his successful novelist father.

The broadcaster’s father is 81-yearold Paul Theroux, the American novelist and travel writer whose books have been turned into films.

Theroux, 52, said he chose to write for TV because he wanted to be creative but not be compared to his father. He told The Diary Of A CEO podcast: “I was conscious of my dad. If I was to attempt to write something, it would be a case of me likely falling short – in my own mind at least.”
