Football hooligans in street brawl outside Tenerife bar

By Joe Pinkstone

WELSH and English football fans in Tenerife clashed in a street fight on Friday night.

Footage shows dozens of people embroiled in a melee on a street which appears to be outside O’Neills and Revolution bars in the Playa de Las Americas resort on the Canary Island.

Bar stools were thrown into groups of people, while punches knocked people over and pushing and shoving also led to several men in red and white football shirts tumbling to the ground.

The fighting is believed to have occurred after England and the USA drew 0-0 last night.

Wales and England will play each other in the final group stage game on Tuesday.

England need to win or draw the match to make it through to the last 16 whereas Wales need to beat England and also hope for a draw between the United States and Iran.

Many British fans have flocked to Tenerife for the World Cup to enjoy the warm weather and bars because of high prices in Qatar and also the ban on alcohol in the Gulf state.

Hooliganism and violence have marred celebrations of England men’s football team at major tournaments in recent years.
