Mogul Mowgli (2020) BBC Two, 10.15pm ★★★

In Bassam Tariq’s fizzing film, Riz Ahmed plays Zed, a young rapper dealing with family estrangement, illness and conflicting identities. Just as he’s about to get his big break, he’s diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder that confines him to a hospital bed. The film indulges itself too much at times, but when it confronts cultural dislocation head on, some brilliantly dangerous scenes result.
