Cut-throat anthem

Delilah Philip Saunders Bungay, Suffolk

SIR – Those concerned that the singing of at rugby matches is an endorsement of domestic violence (report, Issue 1,281) should avoid the Wales v France game.

The French national anthem warns that its soldiers have come “to cut the throats of your sons and consorts”. Luckily this is usually sung in French, and may not represent the policy of the current French government.
