Twenty arrested over boys’ e-bike deaths riots

Twenty people have been arrested in connection with a riot in Ely, South Wales, after the deaths of two teenagers, police have confirmed.

Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and Harvey Evans, 15, died on May 22 when they crashed on an electric bike minutes after CCTV showed them being followed by a police van. Hours of disorder was sparked when news of their deaths and the suggestion police had been pursuing the pair spread.

South Wales Police said 17 males and three females, aged 14 to 36, had been arrested on suspicion of riot. All have since been released on police bail. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the force’s action
