Junior doctors to vote in January over strikes
Junior doctors are to vote in the new year for industrial action over pay.
The British Medical Association’s (BMA) junior doctors committee has voted to go to a ballot in England from around Jan 9.
It is yet to be decided what form the industrial action will take. The committee said that the Government had continually failed to “value junior doctors and reverse years of pay erosion”.
In 2016, there was widespread disruption in hospitals as junior doctors went on strike for the first time in 40 years. Since then, the BMA has made a number of threats but has not taken action.
