Ugo Monye

After Sunday’s match between Exeter and Gloucester, the TNT Sports commentator posted on X, formerly Twitter, that as he left Sandy Park, a supporter ran through the crowd and shouted the n-word at him. “Disgraceful. Not a single person said a word, challenged or even reported it,” he wrote.

Exeter have launched an investigation into Monye’s claims. Devon and Cornwall Police are also investigating the incident.

Tom Curry

During the World Cup semi-final between England and South Africa (below), Tom Curry approached referee Ben O’keeffe to ask: “Sir, if their hooker calls me a white c---, what do I do?”

England complained to World Rugby about the incident and claimed that Curry had been abused by the same player, Bongi Mbonambi, in 2022.

World Rugby determined that there was “insufficient evidence” to warrant disciplinary action against Mbonambi.

Mbonambi later claimed it was a misunderstanding because he was speaking Afrikaans and described the allegations as “unprofessional”.
