Free fish suppers Rockfish, Mitch Tonks’ acclaimed south-west chain of fish restaurants, is offering free fish and chips to children. Until March 2023, under-11s eat free when accompanying an adult who orders a main meal. Tonks says he wants to ‘make fresh, sustainable seafood available to all’.

Global flavours If you’re feeling fed up of the same old festive spread, fear not. Borough Market’s Christmas Around The World hamper (£150, borough market.org.uk) lets you travel far and wide in a single box. Oxford spirit

Start-up whisky brand The Oxford Artisan Distillery has accepted a ‘significant’ investment from Diageo. The company, founded in 2016, focuses on sustainable grain growing and the end product has received glowing reviews. CEO Dave Smith says the money will let them greatly expand production.
